Adam Bullock, UK Director of TopCashback, for comments on customers' Black Friday spending plans, amid the current cost-of-living crisis.
Over two-fifths of Brits are planning on shopping in the Black Friday sales this year, according to a recent study commissioned by the UK’s leading cashback site, TopCashback.
The research, carried out by YouGov, found that more than one in five UK Black Friday shoppers are in fact preparing to spend more in the sales this year than they did in 2021.
An average of £166 per person is expected to be spent in the sales – an increase of £40 compared to the average spend last year. In total, the nation is estimated to fork out over £4.2bn.
Unsurprisingly, over a third of Brits agree that the current cost-of-living situation will have an impact on their Black Friday shopping plans.
Adam Bullock, UK Director of TopCashback, comments:
Black Friday 2022 is set to be very different to previous years. Perhaps for the first time ever, rather than just hungry for a bargain, shoppers up and down the country are relying on the sales to purchase something they need.
Be that a Christmas present or a new energy-efficient gadget, savings offered on Black Friday provide the perfect opportunity for UK families to reduce their spending in the run up to one of the most expensive times of the year.
