Twitter handle:
The main beats that I cover are:
Mortgages and property.
So don’t waste time telling me about:
Anything that requires small talk.
The biggest influence on my journalism career to date is:
Nancy Meyers. Her films inspired me to become a journalist in the first place.
The proudest moment of my time working in financial journalism has been:
Helping to win refunds for our readers when they have been the victims of shoddy customer service.
The piece of advice I'd give to someone starting out in financial journalism is:
Keep reading as much as you can. There’s always more to learn.
My favourite media outlets for financial news are:
This is Money, BBC Money Box and Wake Up To Money.
The worst times for PRs/press offices to contact me are:
On a Tuesday as it’s our press day.
My relationship with PRs could be improved if:
They were more succinct and clear when pitching.
My favourite financial expert is:
I can’t choose one. That’s like asking you to pick a favourite child.
The financial interview I’d most like to arrange is:
Kwasi Kwarteng - I’d love to pick his brain.
The piece of financial services research I’d most like to read is:
The report into the second phase of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
My view on the humble press release and how it could be improved is that:
PRs should summarise their pitch in three clear bullet points at the top.
My dream job in financial journalism would be:
One day having my own podcast.
Are there any recent campaigns/features your fellow reporters have worked on that you would like to highlight?
My colleague Helena Kelly has been working on a fantastic campaign called 'Pick Up or Pay Up', which is trying to reduce the amount of time people spend on the phone to customer services to under ten minutes, or the company should have to pay a fine.
The one piece of kit I cannot do without as a financial journalist is:
Highlighters and sticky notes. I’m very into colour-coding.
Given £1,000 I’d invest in:
Myself. Investing in self-development and training is often overlooked but it is one of the best ways to see a return on your money.
You won’t know this, but I’m really good at:
Noticing when people get haircuts. If only I could monetise it…
You won’t know this, but I’m hopeless at:
Cooking. I once managed to burn rice.
And finally… what’s your go-to karaoke song?
'Stronger' by Kanye West.
