My business card says I am:
Head of Media Relations, Standard Life.
The main areas of the financial services market that I cover are:
Standard Life's UK Financial Services business covers pensions, savings & investments, platforms, banking and healthcare. In addition, the team and I look after all corporate issues for the company.
I was prompted into working on the press/communications side of the business by:
Chance.
The biggest influence on my career so far as a communications professional is:

The best piece of advice I have ever been given is:
That you should approach this job with a customer service mindset and that you can achieve very little without a foundation of solid relationships.
The best piece of publicity I have achieved for a financial services company is:
There were several highlights during Standard Life's demutualisation and flotation.
The headline I would most like to see in the finance pages is:

The first big decision I would make if I took over the regulation of financial services in the UK is:
See answer above.
The column/feature in the wider media which I always read is:

The column/feature in the financial services media which I always read is:
All of them.
I would invest a £500,000 windfall in:
Years of bitter experience tell me that investing money in Aberdeen FC would be throwing good money after bad. So I'd probably build a family retreat on the Isle of Skye. Anything left over might go towards a few casks of Talisker - one of the island's finest outputs.
The most memorable press trip/press event I have ever arranged for the financial services media is:
An evening of darts with ‘the Viking' Andy Fordham was good fun.
If I weren't doing my current job I would probably be a:
I'm told that, as a boy, I wanted to be both a ‘tycoon' and a bin man. So perhaps one (or both) of those.
My guiltiest pleasure is:
The occasional wee dram.
If I was invited to a fancy dress party, I would turn up as a:
I once went to a fancy dress party as a Rubik's cube. I might still have the outfit...
My top money saving tip during the credit crunch is:
Being an Aberdonian, every penny's as a prisoner.
You won't know this, but I'm very good at:
Walking! Many free weekends are spent trudging up Scottish hills in the vain hope that the weather might clear long enough to enjoy the view!
