What topics does your title cover?
We’re all about helping our audiences make the most from their money.
We have a strong focus on current accounts and savings, particularly on our YouTube channel, but everyday finances and money saving play a big part too.
Briefly describe your audience. What are they looking for from your money content?
As expected there’s a real mix, but our most dedicated readers and viewers are really engaged in their finances. They want to know what they can do beyond the basics to make and save money. They regularly visit Be Clever With Your Cash, across all of our channels, for the latest tips and tricks.
Press day/busiest times:
We write our weekly newsletter on a Wednesday, so that’s a pretty packed day, especially in the afternoon. But we’re publishing everyday on the site and YouTube channel.
What is the best way to get in touch with the journalists on your title?
Email is the best option.
We’re all spread out across the country (from Brighton to Leeds), so face to face isn’t always easy.
Are there any topics you would like to hear more from PRs about?
Any big changes or offers relating to bank accounts, savings and credit cards. It’d be great to hear about this before it goes live to ensure we can maximise the coverage.
Our Friday episode of the podcast looks at the top money stories of the week, so any significant or stand out research is of interest. We finalise the stories included on a Thursday morning.
What can PRs do to help your team?
Getting a heads up before product changes are made and coming back quickly with responses to any questions, is always really helpful. We’re often writing up announcements for the website within the hour - so the swifter, the better!
Any recent campaigns/features your team has worked on that you would like to highlight:
We like to react fast and first where we can, and broke the news of a new cheaper but hidden tier on Spotify on the site and socials - our video on TikTok was watched more than 2 million times.
Tell us about the ongoing stories you expect to dominate financial headlines in 2024:
Given the upcoming election, and the financial hardships people are facing, we think we’ll see plenty of policy proposals that’ll impact our finances.
We expect plenty of development in the fintech space and (finally) some movement with interest rates. And we would love to see some positive trends that show improvements in people’s financial health.
Has your title (or anyone on your team) been recognised at any awards recently?
Our Editor Andy is shortlisted for “Financial Broadcaster of the Year” in the upcoming Headlinemoney Awards, while our new Deputy Editor Amelia Murray was on the “Women in Fintech Powerlist 2023”
Do you have any favourites venue for a team lunch/pint?
We’re fully remote, but we meet near different major London stations every six weeks or so and quite like a Leon or Itsu lunch.
In a pub quiz, which round would your team win?
We’re strong on entertainment with the team claiming they’re experts on Taylor Swift, musicians in the Simpsons, Stanley Kubrick films, Doctor Who (2005-2013) and Disney. We’ve not tested that yet though! Sport would be our downfall.
