The very first trophy for Broadcast of the Year will be awarded to the best visual or audio production covering finance, money matters, or business/City news in 2024 for either a B2B or Consumer audience.

Entering is a great way to celebrate the achievements of your team!

Judges will be looking for evidence of a single programme – radio, TV, podcast, online etc – that was the best visual or audio production covering finance, money matters, or business/City news in 2024.

Did your digital/audio programme involve original reporting, skilled production and a clear understanding of your viewer's/listener's requirements?

Did you highlight issues important to your audience?

Were you able to present complex subject matter in an appropriate and accessible style for your audience?

Did your team provide fresh perspectives or offer valuable guidance and analysis?

Entries will close at 11pm on Friday 7 February  2025 for the journalist categories. Please note, for the 2025 awards, entries will NOT be accepted after the entry deadline due to a limited judging time frame.

You'll need to submit:

  • A supporting statement (maximum 300 words) explaining why your broadcast should be considered for this award and why it deserves to win.
  • Access to your programme, either a link or file upload.
    • The item you submit may, for example, be a programme on a single news story, an in-depth piece of research, or an advice-laden show or eye-catching interview.
    • Your visual/audio production may be hosted online, as a podcast, or as a piece of audio-visual reportage.
    • The item you submit must must have appeared in the calendar year 2024.
    • The item you submit can be one episode in a series, or a one-off production.
  • A headshot of the team responsible for the entry or programme logo, for use in relevant Awards collateral and on the night at the Headlinemoney Awards ceremony.

Judges refer extensively to supporting statements during their deliberations, so be sure to include:

  • A clear explanation of where, when and why your chosen item was hosted/broadcast and any useful background/context.
  • Evidence of journalistic achievement in terms of exclusivity, usefulness and influence, including any positive outcomes from your submission, e.g. help for listeners/viewers, change in the law, a review into the way things are done, etc.
  • Evidence of your teams' dedication, professionalism and reputation for efficiency.

When looking at your submission, judges are likely to consider:

  • Is your broadcast well-written, presented and produced?
  • Is it accurate and useful for the audience concerned?
  • Is your submission fresh and original? Does it explore new angles or provide new warnings?
  • Does it contain exclusive or hard-hitting investigative work? Or comprehensive/informative information?
  • Is your submission campaigning and/or include a call-to-action?
  • Did your team make accurate predictions/forecasts?
  • Did your submission produce a positive result?
  • Does your programme include sensible tips for viewers/listeners, further steps, etc?
  • Does your submission make good use of interviews, case studies, etc?

Shortlisting, judging & winners

Entries submitted by journalists across all categories will initially be shortlisted by a panel of judges and announced in May 2025.

After shortlisting, the final and all-important judging phase to decide all the category winners will take place. Judging panels include over a hundred judges comprising senior financial journalists, editors and PRs drawn from around the UK’s financial media.

Widely acknowledged as the biggest night of the year for the UK’s money media, the industry will come together on Wednesday 16 July 2025, where the winners will be revealed at The Brewery in London, at the Headlinemoney Awards 2025.

Good luck and we look forward to receiving your entries!
