Research by SunLife reveals that 29% of people in their 50s plan to retire early.
66% claim they would retire early if they could afford to, but 38% of people want to work for as long as they are able.
52% of retired over 50s surveyed did retire early, with 21% opting to delay their retirement.

The Government has rolled out a number of different measures to lure over 50s back into work – including changes to pension allowances – and while there has been a small lift in employment amongst this age group since the start of the year levels are still below the pre-pandemic highs...
Our Life Well Spent report surveyed 2,000 people over 50 and revealed that one in 17 (6%) of people in their 50s have already retired. Of those yet to retire, almost one in three (29%) are planning to retire early, while the vast majority (66%) said they would retire early if money was no object.
