Our heritage:
Established in 1910, NFU Mutual was set up in a Stratford-upon-Avon teashop by seven local farmers. The aim was to encourage new members to join the Stratford-upon-Avon and District Farmers Union by offering insurance at cost price.
NFU Mutual began insuring individuals and businesses outside of the farming industry in 1988.
Our mutuality:
As a mutual, we don’t have shareholders, so we run our business in the long-term interests of our members rather than for short-term profits. We reward our customers’ loyalty through a Mutual Bonus, which has for over 20 years, provided a saving on the renewal premium of their General Insurance policy.
In 2021 we provided £250m in Mutual Bonus to our loyal customers and expect to provide significant savings again this year. From July 2022 customers will benefit from savings between 8.5% and 13.5% depending on how long they’ve insured with us.
