What led to the launch of Opus First Media?

We’ve created Opus First Media because we want to shake things up. We’re industry veterans with a track record of producing hard-hitting editorial content and creating high quality, disruptive publications. As we share a desire to create the best titles in mortgage and UK real estates, joining forces seemed like a logical step.

Tell us about your new titles, and the areas they cover:

Mortgage Soup is a dedicated publication designed for mortgage brokers, distributors, lenders and mortgage finance professionals.

Originally rebranded from the trusted BestAdvice platform, which focussed primarily on the specialist mortgage market, Mortgage Soup builds on its legacy to provide an even richer source of expert content, tailored specifically to the mortgage sector.

Our focus is on delivering high-quality, actionable information, from market analysis and regulatory updates to strategic advice and industry innovations.

Property Soup spans every corner of the residential property market: from agency sales and lettings to conveyancing; proptech to regulation; business practices to charitable endeavours; new products, development, finance, and even architecture, law, and banking. If it touches the property industry, you’ll find it on Property Soup.

Describe your target audience. How will your content benefit them?

Property Soup serves the wide property-based community in the UK, including estate and letting agents, landlords, and developers. Its broad but detailed coverage means the audience will stay informed about issues that will impact their business. This contrasts with the more siloed approach other sites take. Typically, they don’t cover stories and issues outside of their narrow focus, leaving their audience ill-equipped to deal with an uncertain future.

With Mortgage Soup, our goal is to provide the most comprehensive coverage of the mortgage industry, giving brokers, distributors and lenders the tools to enhance their business operations and achieve greater success. As well as the aforementioned brokers, distributors and lenders, support service providers, tech firms, conveyancers and law firms are also important members of our audience.

Our content includes long-form thought leadership, quick news updates, and commentary on the latest trends in lending and advice.

We also both have a track record in creating interesting and informative multimedia content and so video and audio will form integral parts of our publications in 2025.

Current editorial team:

At the moment it’s just the two of us full time but we have a strong network of freelancers that we will be using throughout 2025.

What is the best way to get in touch with your journalists?

We’re equally happy with face-to-face, virtual meetings, email and phone.

Press day/busiest times:

We’re always updating the sites so we’re always busy, but 8-10am is particularly demanding.

Are there any topics you would like to hear more from PRs about?

As you’d expect we’re always interested in economic and interest rate pressures; housing market dynamics; refinancing and product transfers; everything buy-to-let from development and distribution to tax changes and increased regulation; mortgage arrears and repossession and also the myriad of short-term finance / bridging options available to borrowers.

Also PropTech advancements and supply chain and funding Issues.

What can PRs do to help your team?

If you’ve sent us your request / release please assume that we have received it.

What’s next for Opus First Media?

This is just the beginning! We will be publishing exclusive industry reports next year, based on original quantitative and qualitative research across important industry topics.

We also have firm plans to expand in 2025, with more soups in the pipe…

Tell us about the ongoing stories you expect to cover in 2024:

The growing product transfer market and PropTech advancements; supply chain and funding Issues.

Do you have any favourites venue for a team lunch/pint?
