National End of Life Care Coalition (NEoLCC)

The National End of Life Care Coalition (NEoLCC) represents people and organisations who provide support related to death, dying, care giving and bereavement.

Around 95% of the support people receive at the end-of-life comes from their social networks, communities and civic institutions. Though essential, clinical services, who provide a fraction of the care and support to people who need it are disproportionately represented in discussions about how best to meet our society's needs. 

The NEoLCC was created to give a voice to the millions of people all around the UK who provide the essential, underappreciated and often invisible support and services that go in to end-of-life care. 

Defining end-of-life care

Millions of people are currently supporting someone in the last years of their life. This may be through a life-limiting illness, ongoing medical conditions or old age. 

Though we tend to think of end-of-life care as a short-term prognosis, the reality is many people will be dealing with medical conditions which mean the last phase of life lasts for years, which will require help and support for a longer period of time.
