In five dynamic sessions, the following industry experts will give succinct overviews of their sector, followed by Q&As.

Mortgages – cutting through the confusion

An overview of the UK mortgage market including, market structure, latest trends, pricing and key challenges, and how lenders work with government to improve the market for consumers.

Savings – the mutual way
Chris Irwin, Director of Savings, Yorkshire Building Society
An overview of the savings market from a mutuals perspective, offering background in to how they price, reward their members as well as looking at the savings markets.

Everything you ever wanted to know about pensions
Andrew Tully, Technical Services Director, Nucleus Financial
An overview of the pensions market ranging from paying money into pensions, the state pension, to the different types of private pensions, with a particular focus on those approaching and in retirement.

Lifting the lid on the world of credit scores
James Jones, Head of Consumer Affairs, Experian
The session will be an overview of credit reports and how lenders use them, including via credit scoring. The session will include example score factors from Experian’s public-facing credit score and a dose of myth busting.

Fixed Income – understanding the asset class
Christie Goncalves, assistant portfolio manager, Rathbones Asset Management
The session will aim to demystify an asset class which is often seen as more complex, starting from the basics, explaining what a bond is, why they are issued, who issues them and how the price/yield relationship works. It will also look to explain maturity and how inflation and interest rates impact the asset class. It will look at different types of bonds (corporate, government etc) and the roles they play.
